North Berwick Golf Club

Golf Environment Accreditation

At The North Berwick Golf Club we believe we have a responsibility to care for and protect our natural environment and provide positive value to our local community. In 2016 we gained the GEO Certified® eco-label, an independently assessed recognition of our commitment to the three pillars of sustainable golf: nature protection, resource efficiency and community value.

Below you will find some highlights of the work that we do and some tips on how you can support our sustainability work during your visit.

We are proud to be responsible stewards of the land and hope that during your visit to the club you will enjoy and respect the beautiful natural environment and warm and welcoming local community which makes our course so unique.

Nature

What we do - We work hard to minimise inputs to the course, the natural variations and challenges of the course are part of its charm. We create safe habitats and habitat corridors across the site and are currently working on a major dune restoration project to protect these sensitive areas.

What you can do - Enjoy some wildlife watching while on the course, we’re always keen to hear of any interested sightings.

Resources

What we do - We have highly efficient equipment on site and carefully monitor our irrigation.

What you can do - Please help us to keep our environment clean and tidy by disposing of any waste in the recycling bins provided.

North Berwick has a great train station and bus service, all within easy each of the club, please consider public transport in order to get to your game.

Community

What we do - We have been very happy and proud to support many community events and organisations over the years and in 2016 we established the North Berwick Golf Club Community Fund, which awards grants of up to £2000 to organizations within the EH39 area. In 2016 11 organisations received this funding and applications for 2018 will open during the summer. Contact us for more information. We are also proud to prioritise local suppliers and you can enjoy some of East Lothian’s great local fare at the Club House.  We also work closely with the local schools to get children outdoors and active.

What you can do - Explore the town during your visit and enjoy its bounty of independent shops, cafes and attractions.

Whether you’re a golfer, a walker or a passer by, please be considerate of all other users on the site so we can all enjoy this beautiful location.
